The South Carolina General Assembly has heard the call to address our crumbling infrastructure and they have responded by passing legislation out of committees in the House and Senate.
Now out-of-state, special interest groups are attacking legislators who are trying to do their constitutional duty – fixing our roads and bridges. If these groups go unchallenged, our roads and bridges may never improve.
That is why it is critical that you call the Governor and your legislators and express support that fixing our roads should be a top priority right now. Thank the lawmakers who support infrastructure improvements and have the courage to perform a core function of our government.
Specifically, Senators need to hear support for setting S.523 (the SC Collective Road Act) to a SPECIAL ORDER slot. Of date, twenty-three senators are on record as supportive and are listed below. However, thirty-one senators are needed for a Special Order slot. That means only eight more senators are needed to support the Special Order.
Legislators need to know you support a debate to fix our infrastructure, and ask them to take action as soon as they return to Columbia on April 14. Time is running out, fixing SC roads is a priority this session.
