Many South Carolina farmers depend on access to surface water to irrigate their fields, but their voices are being drowned out by special interest groups in the statehouse.
Water is essential to life, not just to hydrate your body, but also to grow the foods that nourish it. As the original stewards of the land, farmers are dedicated to conserving water and soil by using the most efficient techniques available.
South Carolina Farm Bureau is a proud supporter of Community Supported Agriculture and Farmers’ Markets in the Palmetto State. These programs bring local farmers and communities together to celebrate agriculture and benefits of farming in your neighborhood.
Nearly 5 million acres in the Palmetto State are dedicated to farming. That’s almost 25% of our state being used by more than 26,000 farmers to provide food and other resources for you and your family everyday. Other than the typically row crops, our farmers are also proud to raise dairy cows, chickens, and grown indigo, pecans, and tea.
